5 simple ways to keep fit and healthy both mentally and physically

It’s important to remember that being well is not the absence of illness or stress. Rather, wellness is the active process of being aware of living a healthy and fulfilling life. Just as you develop habits to keep yourself physically healthy, you can develop habits that improve your mental wellness. Mental and physical wellness are linked to each other in many important ways and should be viewed as skills that need to be developed and repeated in a balanced way.

“So how exactly can you achieve all this?”, ask for sure many of you. You might be surprised that there are only 5 main categories of things to remember that are the most important. And of course in each of those categories there is many other things and activities one can learn to do on everyday basis. But it can’t really hurt to at least try, can it?

How long have you lived life that has not brought you what you have been always dreaming of? Maybe there really is something to change. I can defo recommend reading a book called The monk who has sold his red Ferrari. But let’s talk about that some other time. And begin now with 5 easy steps how to simply feel better.

1. Exercise

Everyone probably knows that regular exercise, stretching, work out or yoga is good for you. But nobody tells you that you don’t really have to do much. If you are an athlete, you probably have even more health issues than a person sitting on their couch all day long. There is a magic in balance. Don’t do too much. Do you not like running? Well then don’t do it. How about just a short walk instead? Do you not like swimming? That’s okey, how about you just start jumping in the water hardening yourself and just sitting there for a minute? Believe it or not, even that is going to be super healthy for you. And if you don’t like cold water, how about having a jacuzzi instead? Ha, now we found the right spot for you I’m sure. The main thing is just to get up from the couch and do something. And trust me, even a hot jacuzzi followed by a nice massage is a good treat for your body and mind.

2. Sleep

Enough of good sleep is the key to a happy life. During 4 hours of proper sleep you can gain more energy then during 9hour sleepless night. Actually way more. Trying to fall asleep and not managing not only doesn’t give you any energy at all, it even makes you angry, stressed out….I could continue but I’m sure you get the point. Well, easy to say, you might think. And yet it is easy! There is several tricks that can help you fall asleep and stay asleep. Some of them include certain herbs (to eat or even just to smell) or teas (to…ehm, drink). Other is mentioned above – exercise. And multiple rituals that help you with sleepless nights. Meditation is a great tool. And of course massage that can perfectly combine all the areas mentioned here. A good aromatherapy massage soothes your nerves. A deep tissue can help you after exercise or even supplement it. A nice relaxation massage is sometimes better than a meditation. 3.Nutrition 

A healthy diet is very important. And again, we all know that. But does that necessarily mean that you need to become a fruitarian? Gosh no! If you like meat, eat it. If you don’t want to eat meat, don’t. Is it really that simple? It is! As long as you have enough of movement and your diet is balanced, it doesn’t really matter all that much what you eat. I always say “it is healthier to have a cigarette that you like than a carrot that you hate”. I’m not suggesting for you to smoke. I’m just saying that if you feel like that juicy burger but you think you shouldn’t, just have it. But in that case enjoy it (and don’t have twenty of them).

4. Love

This is my favourite category. Mainly because nobody ever considers it when thinking about health. This basically means….just love. Love everything and everyone. Love what you do. Love the food you eat. The water you drink. Wake up in the morning and give love as well as receive it. There’s no one who you could get love from? 5. Relaxation and recreation

Busy busy busy? Stop for a moment and don’t forget to breath. Funny how often we forget to relax. Just sit down for a while and listening to the sound of waves or watch the floating clouds in the sky. Or just have a nice relaxing massage here and there.

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that mental health is closely tied to physical health. Treating them both with care and working on your overall wellness will make you feel better in a number of ways.
